Please read the following contract carefully because it outlines the relationship, expectations and resolution avenues regarding the puppy purchased for the puppy/dog’s lifetime. This agreement “Agreement”, dated as of _____________________ (the “Effective Date”), is between

TERMS AND CONDITIONS  

  The buyer agrees to cover the cost of the puppy and its shipping fee. You agree that the puppy will not be allowed outside without proper supervision. You also agree to care for the puppy responsibly and humanely, which includes providing sufficient food, water, shelter, attention, and medical care. You acknowledge and accept that the current breeder guarantees the puppy's temperament but is not liable for any future damages or injuries caused by the animal. You grant the breeder permission to contact you at reasonable times to ensure the puppy is being properly cared for. You commit to being fully responsible for the puppy, meeting all its needs, treating it humanely, and providing everything it requires to the best of your ability.

                                                     Shots and Vaccine Clause of the Contract

  • The dog has been OFA certified for hips and elbows.
  • The Dog’s Eyes Are Cerf Clear.
  • The Dog Has Been Properly Dewormed At 2, 4, 6, And 8 Weeks of Age.
  • The Dog Received the Distemper, Measles, And Parainfluenza Vaccine At 6-8 Weeks, Or the DHPP (Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza, And Parvovirus) Vaccination At 8 Weeks.
  • The Dog Will Be Transported to The Buyer by Air in A Pet Crate.
  • The Seller Remains the Legal and Factual Owner of the Dog Until the Agreement Is Signed and Payment Is Completed.
  • A 30-day Money-back Guarantee Is Provided If the Buyer Is Unsatisfied with The Puppy, Provided the Buyer Complies with The Stated Terms.
  • A One-year Written Health Warranty Has Been Issued, Attesting to the Above.
  • The seller guarantees that the puppy or puppies are in good health and come with AKC registration application paperwork, making them eligible for registration with the buyer's local kennel club.  
  •  The seller also ensures that the puppy or puppies have a great temperament at the time of sale. A health record detailing all vaccinations and worming will be provided.  
  • The buyer agrees to take the dog to a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of delivery for a physical examination. If the veterinarian identifies any health issues for which the seller is clearly responsible, the dog may be returned.  
  • A signed written diagnosis from the veterinarian, for a full refund of the purchase price. The seller agrees to cover the cost of returning the puppy or puppies.
  • The buyer is entitled to a 30-day money-back guarantee, with a full refund provided, no questions asked. if the Buyer is dissatisfied with the dog or face difficulties bonding with their new furry companion. In such cases, the dog must be returned along with all necessary documentation and medical records.

1. Ownership

The Breeder is the lawful owner of the puppy and retains the right to transfer ownership to the Buyer. Ownership will be officially transferred upon full payment of the agreed Purchase Price. No puppy shall leave the Breeder’s care before reaching 9 weeks of age.

2. Puppy Selection

The Buyer has full discretion in selecting a puppy. The Breeder will provide detailed information and guidance to help match the Buyer with a puppy suited to their lifestyle and preferences. Selection is based on sex and the order in which deposits are received. However, the Breeder reserves the right to retain first pick from any litter for breeding purposes, in support of the breed’s long-term health and quality.

3. Health Guarantee – Short Term:
  • The puppy has been examined by a licensed veterinarian and deemed healthy.
  • Immunization records will be provided to the Buyer.
  • The Buyer must have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of receiving the puppy (“Examination Period”) to validate this guarantee.
  • If the puppy is found to be unfit for sale, the Buyer may return the puppy for a full refund. A written statement from the veterinarian must be submitted to the Breeder within 48 hours of the exam.
4. Health Guarantee – Long Term:

      The Breeder offers a one-year warranty from the puppy’s date of birth against life-threatening congenital conditions. If such a condition arises:

  • The Buyer must notify the Breeder immediately.
  • Veterinary records and/or necropsy reports must be provided.
  • The Breeder reserves the right to have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian of their choosing.
5. Returns & Refunds:

If the puppy is deemed unfit for purchase or diagnosed with a life-threatening congenital condition within the warranty period:

  • The Buyer may retain the puppy and receive reimbursement for related veterinary expenses, not exceeding the original Purchase Price.
6. Warranty Exclusions:

The following are excluded from warranty coverage:

  • Breed-specific predispositions: entropion, skin allergies, bloat, cherry eye, ear infections, pyometra, etc.
  • Common puppy conditions: parasites, worms, giardia, coccidia, ringworm, etc.
  • Minor or non-life-threatening issues: respiratory infections, UTIs, hernias, uneven bites, undescended testicles, mild heart murmurs, etc.
  • Illnesses contracted during transport.
  • Highly contagious diseases post-transfer: parvovirus, distemper, kennel cough, mange, scabies.
  • Issues due to neglect or improper care: poor temperament from lack of training, poisoning, malnutrition, etc.
  • Early spaying/neutering: The puppy must not be altered before 12 months of age. Doing so voids all health guarantees, as Chow Chows require intact hormones for proper joint and bone development.
7. No Other Warranties

No additional warranties, expressed or implied, are provided. The puppy is sold “as is,” except as specifically outlined in this agreement.

8. Microchip & Recovery:

The puppy will be microchipped using the Fi-Nano recovery system. Both Buyer and Breeder contact details will be registered. The Breeder covers the cost of the chip and lifetime registration to ensure no puppy is ever homeless or unclaimed. Should the puppy be recovered and the Buyer fails to       respond within 48 hours, the Breeder reserves the right to reclaim the puppy, and the Buyer forfeits all AKC registration rights.


 

9. Buyer Responsibilities: Care & Veterinary Maintenance:

     The Buyer agrees to provide responsible and humane care for the puppy, including:

  • Safe, weather-appropriate housing
  • A secure exercise area (preferably fenced)
  • Balanced and sufficient nutrition
  • Ongoing socialization and training appropriate for the breed

    Veterinary Care:
The Buyer shall ensure the puppy receives lifelong veterinary care, including:

  • Routine vaccinations and/or titers to maintain immunity
  • Regular treatment for internal and external parasites
  • Annual wellness exams by a licensed veterinarian

Additional Terms & Conditions:

10. Orthopedic Health & Growth Care

  •  Providing daily, age-appropriate exercise (no forced activity like jogging until fully grown or approved by a veterinarian) Preventing stress injuries (e.g., no jumping from heights above shoulder level until fully grown.
  •  Feeding a balanced diet to avoid rapid growth or excess weight. Breeder recommends Royal Canine Junior Puppy Food, Snacks and Puppy Kibble, transitioning to adult food at 6 months.
  • Buyer agrees not to pursue elbow or hip surgery without first consulting the Breeder, especially in cases of pan osteitis (PANO), a temporary growth condition often misdiagnosed.
  • 11. Breed-Specific Considerations:Buyer acknowledges the natural instincts of Basset Hounds may expose them to parasites, infections, or blockages.
  • Adult weight typically ranges from:
  • 75–80lbs for regular females.
  • 85-90 for males.
  • While female Mini Chows reach 18-23lbs.
  • Males reach 23-25lbs.
  •  Puppy teeth are sharp but typically fall out by 6 months.
  • Veterinary guidance should be tailored to the dog’s lifestyle and breed characteristics.
12. Breach of Agreement:

Any breach of Buyer’s obligations will void all Breeder warranties.

14. Remedy for Mistreatment:

If Breeder suspects neglect or abuse, they may have the dog examined by a licensed veterinarian. If confirmed, Breeder may reclaim the dog and its AKC registration. No refund will be issued.

15. Dispute Resolution:

In case of disagreement, both parties agree to attempt resolution via mediation before pursuing legal action. If needed, a neutral third party such as Chow Chow Club Inc of America or a licensed veterinary specialist may assist. All proceedings shall remain confidential.

16. Governing Law:

This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Arizona and buyers state, without regard to conflict of law principles.

If you can no longer care for your dog, we will always welcome them back—no questions asked. If transferring ownership to family, please share updated contact info so we can continue offering support and update the microchip records.
